EVA Foam for 3D Embroidery / Puff Embroidery

Sheet Size 28cm x 34cm 3D or Puff Embroidery Foam for creating “3D” raised effect embroidery on caps, bags and more. 3D finished embroidery creates interest and perceived additional value – but only takes a little extra time to prepare and finish. Available in a variety of colours.
Embroidery puff foam sheets are non-toxic, water-resistant and machine washable, but they are flammable and cannot be dry-cleaned.

We are please to offer two different hardness (density) foams:
– our original “hard” (hardness =75) which perforates cleanly for a neat finish, and holds it’s square edges for a sharp raised effect.
– our “medium” (hardness = 38) foam has a softer feel, is a little easier for domestic / lighter weight machines to sew with, also great for a 3D effect on lighter weight garments, and for layering of foams for a unique double 3d effect

This material is intended for use with designs that have been digitized for raised, 3D embroidery on stable fabrics. Great for caps, jackets, bags, aprons and other stable fabrics. Note that designs must be digitized specifically for 3D Embroidery.

How to use:
It is best to insert a stop in the design after the flat part of the embroidery is done and before the raised part of the embroidery is started. Cut a piece of foam large enough to cover the area to be stitched. When the machine stops and is ready for the foam, lay the foam over the area to be stitched inside the hoop. Tape the edges of the foam to hold it down. We don’t recommend using a spray adhesive as the adhesive can gum up the needle. Continue stitching the design. Remove the excess foam by tearing away. Tweezers are helpful for the small areas that need to be removed. Use a pointed object to poke in any small pieces of foam that remain and are sticking out of the design. You may also use a heat gun to shrink them into the design. Be careful not to set the temperature too high to avoid burning the thread.
